Low hotwater pressure

We finally got to use our 1990 Coachmen this past weekend. Everything seemed to work just fine except we noticed we didn't have much pressure from the hotwater tank. We were hooked to city water. Our cold water had lots of pressure but when we used the hotwater it was low. I checked the bypass on the waterheater to make sure it was correct and it was. Any suggestions? Thanks, Randy

RE: Smelly fridge

I tried baking soda, charcoal, coffee grounds, newspaper and vanilla. The vanilla seemed to work the best. The fridge smells like vanilla, but that's a lot better than the smell of death. :)

RE: Is my converter working correctly?

Installing a new battery seemed to take care of the problem. I'm sure the fan must kick on sometime, but I haven't noticed it since installing the new battery. It hums which I think is normal. Thanks for all the suggestions!

RE: Smelly fridge

Ok, I just talked with the previous owners who admitted to leaving deli meat and cheese in there for months on end before finding it. I will try a combination of all the above to rid that smell. Should we have the fridge turned on during this process of coffee grounds, charcoal, newspaper, etc??

RE: Smelly fridge

I've researched on the internet and found several reports of some fridges smelling like ammonia because of an evaporator leak. I don't really think that is what ours smells like but might be. Would you be able to smell the ammonia even with the fridge turned off? We cleaned it out and left the doors opened for days and could not smell anything, but within hours of closing the doors you could smell it when you opened it back up and we didn't even have it turned on..

RE: Smelly fridge

The smell is actually in the freezer compartment as well. With the doors open for a few days there is no smell at all, but close them for a few hours and it's there. Doesn't seem to matter if the fridge is on or off. We washed it down with baking soda and water last night and poured out two boxes of baking soda in the freezer and fridge. If this doesn't work I'll try some our your suggestions. Please keep them coming because it's really really bad. :E Thanks

Smelly fridge

We recently bought a 90 model TT and the fridge smells awful. It reminds us of a dead mouse smell! We've washed it down several times with bleach and water, greased lightning and used odoban(sp). We've left the door open for weeks and within a few hours of closing it the smells back. It does matter if it's turned on or not. The only place you can smell it is in the fridge compartment, the freezer seems fine. You can't smell it outside at the access door to the fridge, you can't smell it under the fridge as this is where the hotwater heater and furnace are located and you can open that area up. It's just in the fridge. Any suggestions??? Thanks, Randy

RE: Is my converter working correctly?

This is a GREAT place for answers!!!! My battery was bad. It was charging but would not hold a charge very long at all. Within 5 miuntes after unplugging the camper from current and turning on a light the battery would be drained. I'm replacing it and will go from there and see if how it works. Thanks

Is my converter working correctly?

I recently purchased a 1990 Coachmen 26' TT and am wondering if the converter is OK.. When I first plug my TT into electric the converter starts humming which I feel is normal as the newer campers I;ve owned did the same thing. Then in about 20 minutes of being on the internal fan kicks on and blows out hot air, which again I think is normal. However, I never have heard the fan quit running. Over the last few days I've been in and out and everytime I listen I can hear the fan running and there is a lot of hot air coming out the vents. 1. Does this sound normal? 2. Is there a way to quieten the fan, because it's pretty loud? 3. There is a lot of hot air coming out, is this really ok? Thanks, Randy

RE: Battery connection not working???

Ok, did a little more checking. Found the fuse link coverd in plastic wire trace was completey melted and was not letting any power past it. So my question is what type of fuse link do I need here? Is this something with a replaceable fuse that I can get at the local auto parts store. I hate to drive the 30 miles to the camper supply place if I can get what I need right here. Thanks for the help thus far, Randy

Battery connection not working???

I just purchased an older Coachmen travel trailer and found that I can not get anything to work from the battery connection. I hooked up a known working battery to the connections and still could not get any lights or the water pump to work. Everything works when it's hooked to A/C but I can't get anything to work from D/C. I checked to make sure all the breakers and fuses at the converter were on and not blown and all that seemed to be fine. I even turned off all the breakers and moved around some fuses and still could not get it to work. Any suggestions on where to start looking for this problem??? Thanks

RE: installing brake controller on 96 ram 1500

It does have the MOPAR Factory 7pin plug installed, so maybe the connector is under the dash somewhere. I will take the kneed bolster off so I can see in there better. Thanks!

installing brake controller on 96 ram 1500

My uncle wants me to help him install a brake controller on his 96 ram 1500. It has the factory installed tow package including the camper plug, but I can not find a plug under his dash to just plug in his brake controller. I understand how to wire it all in except for the blue wire that needs to hook to the camper plug. Do I have to run 1 wire(blue) back to the trailer plug that is factory installed or is there somewhere else to hook this wire? If not should I just splice into the blue wire that's already hooked up to the factory plug at the plug? The factory plug looks like it's just plugged into the wiring harness under his bumper, should I just splice into it there???? Hope this makes sense...
